Our Story

Menagerie Climbing is a hold business born from Andy Raether (my) over 20 years of climbing, competing, and shaping experiences. Having started climbing back in 1997 in Minnesota as a teenager I was immediately stuck indoors entirely climbing on plastic most of the year. Very quickly I dove into shaping, and loved it. Taking this inspiration from the outdoors as well as just trying to concoct new shapes out of thin air.

After having climbed and competed at dozens of gyms, shaped freelance for several hold companies, and traveled all over the world as a pro-climber I wanted to be able to bring my own psych and truly personal touch to the climbing hold world and Started Menagerie. Toiling away in his garage in Vegas for 10-13 hours a day for one month.  the initial line of 600 shapes burst onto the hold market.

several years later Menagerie has grown into a hold business that pours polyurethane and polyester at Composite X in Bulgaria, Polyurethane at Proxy in SLC, fiberglass Macros and wood Volumes at Blocz in Germany, and makes a hybrid wood/plastic light up training board with Daniel Woods! with so many awesome grips to choose from we are happy and excited to help your gym get you to where you need to be.
